Project “Lizard”

When I created this mobile app as an independent project, my aim was to give users an easy and quick way to donate to the rescuing of endangered lizards, while also encouraging education on the topic.

Try out the app for yourself here.

Notable Design Iterations:

  1. On the wireframe, you can see that I intended to have a fixed toolbar at the bottom of the page. After conducting a usability study and considering the size of a mobile screen, I found that it would be more useful to have a hamburger menu located in the top-left corner.

2. The main goal of the app is to get users to donate, so I placed the green “Donate” button as the first focus point. If I were to do this project again, I would make the “Donate” button bigger than the “Learn” and “Your Impact” buttons to really draw user’s attention to it.

My role:

In this project, I

  • completed user research,

  • ran usability studies,

  • created wireframes,

  • and produced low- and high- fidelity prototypes in Adobe XD.

Project Details:

A big part of this project was learning how to create an efficient user flow and wireframes without a reference to a similar donation app. Therefore, usability studies were an important part of this project. Based on the insights, I adjusted some of the wireframes in Adobe XD to better fit user needs.

Takeaways:

This project allowed me to think out of the box - I learned to think critically about what features users truly need in an app and how to best design them.

Since one of my main goals for this app was to keep users engaged in learning about the endangered lizards, I also enjoyed experimenting with different visual layouts and elements in this project.
